“Caretaker of our nations combat wounded Veterans. ”

I am nominating my wife, Karen Evans. Not because she is my wife, but because she is also my caretaker and best friend. We have been married for 10 years. Having met before my first deployment while I was serving in the United States Army. She has been supportive of me ever since. But here's the kicker, I was wounded by a roadside bomb in Iraq in May of 2007 having lost my right hand and fractured my spine. Karen has stuck by me 110%, even quitting her job to help me through recovery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Every single day since she has gone above and beyond to care for me and help me with my daily activities. All while maintaining a full time job at a local Vetrenarian clinic, to satisfy her love of helping and caring for animals. But, being the loving and caring person that she is, She wanted more. So she applied to work with more US Veterans at the VA Hospital in Reno, NV. She went to school and earned her CNA and is now working in the community living center at the hospital caring for veterans. So, she spends her days, all day everyday caring for combat wounded and sick veterans. Both at work and at home. I can't thank her enough for what she does for me and I am extremely fortunate to have such a wonderful woman to help and care for me. She works hard, never complains and always has a smile. We are about to start a family and she, wanting to help even more is starting her journey through nursing school. Wether she wins for our charity or not, M1 for VETs, an organization that helps Combat Wounded Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan reintegrate to society through professional marksmanship competition. I still wanted to shine a light on what a wonderful, caring, smart and dedicated person she is. She ALWAYS puts others needs ahead of her own and cares 110% about our nations Veterans.
