Ret. Cpl Tyler Southern was raised in Jacksonville Florida. In 2007, at the age of 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps. After training he was attached to 1st Battalion 2nd Marines where he was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. On May 5th, 2010, while in Afghanistan, he stepped on the pressure plate of 10lb victim operated IED resulting the loss of three limbs. After two and a half years at Bethesda Naval Hospital, he medically retired on September 21, 2012. On July 9, 2011 he married his best friend, the beautiful, Ashley Southern. On January 1, 2014 she gave birth to their first child Damon Cole, and on February 1, 2016 she gave birth to their second child Zoey Lynn. His hope for the future is to raise three wonderful children with the love of his life, work with Heroes, spread awareness for the Wounded, and remember and honor the Fallen.
